Crochet creations this year.

March: The first baby blanket I ever made, for my friend Anika’s new baby boy.

2013-03-29 11.20.24

I wish now that I had taken the time to crochet a proper border for it, but I was so excited to get it finished and give it to her that I left it.

June: another baby ripple blanket, for another work friend.  She didn’t know if she was expecting a baby boy or girl so I tried to keep the colour scheme suitable for either.  I just LOVE this colour combination!

I finished this properly with a border, to give it that complete look and straighten the ends.

I had a proper love affair with this blankie and had a few moments when I thought I might just keep it for myself, but it was finally posted off to it’s intended destination, and it arrived just after her new baby boy.

June: sat  out in the garden one very HOT HOT afternoon, I found myself whipping up some circles…with some vague idea of wanting to make circles within squares for my next blanket…

2013-06-09 17.40.23-1 …and had fun playing around with the colours!

July: a spot of bunting…

August: then ANOTHER baby ripple blanket for a work frien of Mark’s new baby boy.

And I bordered this one properly too,

August: I bought some really fine cotton in the most amazing colours.  I still haven”t decided what to do with these yet.

August: a little hooky project for my Mum!

2013-08-25 18.28.02

August: I treated myself to this AMAZING Rico Creative Cotton in the most mouthwatering colours, which I have used for various little projects but had intended to make some cushions covers for the lounge –  maybe another project for 2014?  I’m after a more homespun look in the lounge next year so this would be perfect.

2013-08-25 18.31.34

Ah, BEAUTIFUL colours!

2013-08-25 19.16.30August: the baby ripple bordered and finished.  I had a few heart pangs when this was sent to it’s new home!  I seem to become very attached to these blankets over the weeks/months that it takes me to complete them.  I tale them everywhere I go so I can whip them out and crack on with them at every opportunity, and always feel a little bereft after they’ve gone.  There’s usually a little gap before I really get my teeth into something else.

2013-08-25 19.16.53And once again, I really enjoyed this colour combination.

End of August: I started this random granny square baby blanket, with no proper colour scheme in mind.  I haven’t really been feeling the love for this blanket.  Maybe it’s just the colours that aren’t quire right.  Not sure really.

2013-09-03 16.23.49

And there was a lot of ends to sew in that I hadn’t, of course, sewn in as I crocheted.  Live and learn, eh?

It’s still not finished,  I intend to surround the whole thing with small blue squares, just to make it a little larger.  But it’s still not finished!

November: I started a granny square ‘Elmer’ style blanket for Lily which I’m really enjoying as its nice to be able to grab it and just do one extra square whenever I have a few spare minutes

This is the blanket that is finally finished, that I started with those random circles in June.  It’s been edged in a prettier, more wavy way as this blanket if for a little baby girl bor to another work friend.  The nurses on my ward and producing babies at a higher rate than me and my blankets can keep up!

2013-12-29 11.08.29

Ive been struggling to get some decent photos of this blanket though, mainly due to the low light levels and constant rain.  I managed to get a couple of snaps while the sun shined yesterday.

December: on boxing day I decided to try whipping up a couple of Christmas decorations with the Rico Creative Cotton I bought earlier in the year.  They turned out really well so I must get a couple of snaps of them.

I’m surprised at how little I actually completed this year, as I feel I have been constantly hooking away during every spare moment.  But I still LOVE hooking away and that is the main thing I guess!
